RFID-Based Management Solution for Rental Equipment in the Food-Service Sector
What problem did we solve?
The previous process relied largely on manual data entry, Excel spreadsheets, and copying information between different sources. This made record-keeping time-consuming and error-prone. There was also no sufficiently accurate, up-to-date overview of the rental equipment’s location, condition, issues, returns, and movement history.
What did we do to solve the problem?
The client’s rental-equipment management process was digitalised, and the previously labour-intensive, Excel-based record-keeping was migrated to the IDsys software solution. RFID technology was added to the solution, allowing rental equipment to be identified faster and its movement tracked more precisely.
How does the solution work?
IDsys’s standardised software and RFID-based equipment identification were adopted. The system makes it possible to manage rental-equipment orders, issues, returns, locations, condition, and usage history. The solution is modular and can be extended to other units, regions, or markets as needed. GPS data can additionally be used to gain a more precise overview of equipment movement and location.
How does the solution help make work processes more efficient?
The main benefit of the solution is that manual work is reduced, data accuracy improves, and a real-time overview of the rental equipment’s status is created. Finding, issuing, and returning equipment becomes faster, and the whole process is more transparent and easier to manage.
Cooperation with the client began in autumn 2024 with the preparation and rollout of a project to digitalise rental-equipment management. As a result, the previously labour-intensive, spreadsheet-based process was migrated to a digital, RFID-supported management solution.
