What problem did we solve?
Immediately before the IDsys Online and RFID-based solution, a barcode-based borrowing system was used: each book had to be registered separately with a scanner. This created time delays, and the beeping of the barcode scanner during each scan became distracting, especially during events held in the library.
In addition to the barcode, each book required a separate security element to be installed, which had to be activated or deactivated during each borrowing and return.
In addition, there was a desire to be more innovative in the solutions and make the workflows faster and more convenient.
What was done to solve it?
Saku Parish Library has implemented an RFID borrowing and security system with IDsys standardized software.
How does the solution work?
The book home lending system with a security solution has been created using RFID technology and IDsys Online standardized software. The RFID tag serves both the book check-in and check-out function as well as the security element function.
How does it improve efficiency?
The inventory of 80,000 items with the new solution is significantly faster, as multiple books can be scanned at once. The workflows are smoother, and the security solution is integrated with the borrowing process – it deactivates during borrowing and reactivates upon return.
