The Fine Bedding Company OÜ RFID-based production monitoring analysis

  • The analysis mapped the bottlenecks in warehouse and production processes and the potential for digitalisation

  • The goal is a real-time overview of the materials entering production, their quantities and their time in use

  • The outcome is a described software and hardware solution together with a plan for implementing it

What problem did we solve?

The company wanted detailed traceability and a real-time overview of the materials entering production, their quantities, and their time in use. Data management was spread across separate Excel spreadsheets and purpose-built programs, which meant a great deal of manual work and repeated data entry.

What did we do to solve the problem?

IDsys carried out a preliminary analysis of RFID-based real-time production monitoring on the company’s order. The analysis identified the bottlenecks in the warehouse and production processes and assessed the potential for digitalisation and automation. It also described a suitable software and hardware solution that would make the required information traceable at every stage of the process.

What did the analysis give the company?

The analysis provided an overall view of the processes, brought out the main bottlenecks in existing workflows, and gave a clearer picture of cross-departmental processes. It mapped the stages where work is currently done manually and described how those stages would become easier to manage once moved onto a single system.

Which technologies were proposed?

RFID and machine vision were proposed for implementing the solution. The aim is to consolidate data flows into a single solution where data is entered once and moves automatically between production, the warehouse, and management. This would reduce manual work and increase process throughput.

The analysis confirmed that the company has clear potential to digitalise its production and warehouse processes, and it created the conditions for improving production efficiency, data quality, and supply-chain transparency. It also provides a basis for planning and implementing further digitalisation projects.
